Feed the Kids, A Success!

We have successfully delivered 75,000 pounds of food for the 2011 summer months of June, July and August to 100 needy families. We are so thankful for all of

the help given by our many volunteers who have worked so hard to make this program a success.

This program means so much to these families, who would otherwise not be able to afford groceries for their children during the summer months. Each month the 100 families participating in Feed the Kids receive $497 worth of food, a total retail value of $1,491 given to families for the summer.

Many of the families who are in our Feed the Kids project rely on the free or discounted breakfast and lunch programs at their children’s schools to help feed their families. However, during the summer months that support is not available, and many families are left struggling, “Summer is hard in our situation due to child support issues and having the kids home for every meal, whereas in school they eat 2 meals a day there. Thank you for alleviating my fears about food this summer.” ~A Mother in our Feed the Kids Program.

This program has heavily impacted the lives of the children in our program. The 18 different varieties of fruits and vegetables in addition to the 8 types of frozen meat give the children in our program the energy they need, not to mention the 100 pounds of non-perishable food! One parent has said, “There is nothing worse for a mother than to feel you can’t give your kids what they need. It is humiliating to feel like a failure. Never once in my dealings with your organization have I been humiliated or treated with anything but respect. Thank You.“ ~A Mother from our Feed the Kids Program

Thank you to all of our volunteers who have helped HSP accomplish this amazing feat. We could not have made Feed the Kids happen without all of your help!
