This week HSP has
had the pleasure of welcoming the first member of our fall internship team,
Allyson Armstrong. Allyson is a recent graduate of Northern
Illinois University where she studied English with a minor in Women’s Studies. Allyson is
joining HSP as a grant writing intern. In this capacity, she will be helping
HSP research and apply for new avenues of funding for our programs that serve
needy seniors, children, and their families. Later on, Allyson will also help
contribute to the preparation for our annual Christmas Offering.
Allyson says that
her desire for writing experience and an opportunity to help others while
developing skills is what inspired her to apply for an internship with HSP. In
the future, Allyson hopes to work either as an editor or in the non-profit
field. She says that it was her coursework in the Women’s Studies program that
helped fuel her passion for service. Outside of service, Allyson is an avid
writer and reader. Among her favorite authors are John Green, Virginia Woolf,
and J.K Rowling. We at HSP are very happy to have Allyson joining the HSP team.
Please join us in welcoming her.
