You Don’t Want to Miss This – RibFest 2016

Folks – it is not too late to become a volunteer at the annual Naperville Ribfest happening July 1st through 4th this summer!  There will be music from favorite artists 3 Doors Down and Sheryl Crow, there will be food, and we’re sure it’s going to be a blast.
The annual event is hosted by the Exchange Club of Naperville, and gives generous volunteers like YOU the chance to serve and support your favorite charities.  In the past, Ribfest has helped raise funds for more than 50 local charities, and it is all thanks to the volunteers who help out at the event.  Sign-ups for volunteers are open online.

The more volunteers who represent HSP at the event, the more funds will go to support our Feed the Kids program.  To learn more about volunteering at Ribfest, go to http://www.ribfest.net/volunteer/.  If you sign up, or have any questions please contact HSP at 630-221-8340 or email hsp@humanitarianservice.org to let us know if you would like to be a volunteer for HSP at Ribfest.  Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity!

Happy Trails to Katelyn

Yesterday, HSP bid farewell to one of the wonderful members of our internship team. Katelyn Adducci had been part of the HSP team since October. Katelyn joined HSP’s team to complete her first year “practicum” at Adler University. Katelyn spent her time at HSP interviewing the deserving seniors in our Senior Citizen Project, updating our knowledge on their needs. Katelyn was a blessing to our seniors and a joy to have around the office. We at HSP wish to thank her for her support, and wish her well as she moves on in her education.

Thank You to the LeaderShop Volunteers

Yesterday, HSP hosted 14 volunteers from the LeaderShop, a youth organization for service-minded students.  As part of their Spring Break Service Blitz, the generous volunteers helped HSP make non-perishable food bags and paper product bags, and sorted food donations for the seniors served by our Senior Citizen Project.  We wanted to take this time to thank them for their efforts in helping HSP serve.  Thank you, LeaderShop!

Thank You to Congregation Etz Chaim

HSP would like to thank everyone at Congregation Etz Chaim in Lombard for donating over 300 boxes of macaroni and cheese. The Congregation collected this donation in alignment with the holiday Purim, and Etz Chaim has made this drive an annual tradition. This mac and cheese will be distributed to the low-income children and families served through our Feed the Kids program!

This great group of youngsters ran a food drive, collecting a very impressive 24 boxes of food for the low-income seniors and families who rely on HSP for the nutrition they need.
