Happy Birthday, Bridget

Today was a special day at HSP, as we had the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of our Volunteer and Operations Coordinator, Bridget Dooley. Anyone who has visited our Center undoubtedly knows Bridget as one of the smiling faces of HSP. However, Bridget does so much more than that, happily completing numerous responsibilities to manage our volunteers and ensure that our programs run smoothly. Please join us in wishing Bridget a very happy birthday!

Please consider donating to support our running team. All of the money raised in support of our runners goes directly to our programs. Some "Thank Yous" From Grateful Parents

Through our Children’s Birthday Project, HSP provides gifts of toys and books as well as party supplies for an exciting birthday party to local children in need. This program provides 700+ underprivileged children the joyful birthdays and special recognition we feel all children deserve. We wanted to take time to share some of the parents’ “thank you” notes with all of our supporters who help make the program possible.

“[My son] loves the box. He LOVES to read, so the books are so special to him”

“[The program] has been so beneficial. My child has special needs. We are so grateful!”

“[My children] are so excited when they receive their boxes. They jump, run, and scream when they receive their gifts.”

We wish to thank everyone who enables us to make this difference in the lives of these deserving kids. If you wish to sponsor a child in our Children’s Birthday Project, please contact HSP 630-221-8340.

Divine Support from our Friends at Divine Savior Parish

HSP would like to thank our friend’s at Divine Savior Parish in Downers Grove for hosting a food drive for the senior citizens and families served through our programs. The parish collected enough groceries to fill a minivan. Divine Savior has been supporting HSP for more than 20 years, and has assisted us in providing immeasurable assistance to those in our communities who need us most!

Paper Towels Needed

HSP is in dire need of paper towels for the 133 seniors in our Senior Citizen Project.  Every month, HSP delivers 266 rolls to the seniors we serve.  Paper towels are an essential household item as they help seniors maintain cleanliness around the house.

If you would like to donate paper towels for the seniors we serve, please contact HSP at 630-221-8340 or email us at hsp@humanitarianservice.org.

Thank You to the UUSG!

HSP would like to issue a HUGE thank you to the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva. On Saturday, as part of their annual day of service, the group created and donated 133 “personal care kits” full of hygiene products for the low-income seniors we serve, and 52 “party in a bag kits” for the underprivileged children in our Children’s Birthday Project!

Thanks to Two Great Groups of Kids

HSP would like to thank two groups of kids for recently running service projects for the deserving children in our Children’s Birthday Project. First up was, Daisy Troop 21280 which collected party supplies and made 20 “party in a bag kits” for the children we serve. Second were the students at Kingsley Elementary who collected and donated art supplies. It is great to see these groups engaged at such a young age in reaching out to others. Thanks to them, HSP will be able to bring smiles to children in need.
