Help Needed for Senior Delivery Day

Help Needed for Senior Delivery Day

Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) is in need of volunteers for this Saturday’s (August 20th) Senior Delivery Day.

Currently, we are seeking 7 drivers to bring food to seniors in nearby communities. Drivers are asked to stop by our center in Carol Stream, where we will load their cars with groceries, give them maps, and provide them information about the seniors. Most routes deliver

to 2 seniors.

The following routes are available:

· 1 senior in Aurora

· 2 seniors in Lisle

· 1 sr. in Glen Ellyn, 1 sr. in Downer’s Grove

· 2 seniors in Wheaton

· 2 seniors in Naperville

· 2 seniors in Bensenville

· 1 sr. in Wheaton, 1 sr. in Warrenville

The delivery package for each senior is enough for 3-4 weeks, so driver’s should have space in their vehicles.

Two volunteers are also needed to help load the food into cars from 7:45 AM to noon.

Our seniors are truly grateful for this service:

“My arthritis makes it really hard to get around these days. I don’t even have a car to get to a store; I was so relieved when I was told that HSP would deliver my groceries.”

“Having someone bring the food to my home is wonderful! It is such a relief knowing that I do not have to carry in the groceries by myself. The people who deliver the food are amazing!”

If you are interested in helping out or if you would like to find out more information, please give us a call at (630)221-8340 or email HSP at scp@humanitarianservice.org. If we have not worked with you before, we would need the names and phone numbers of 2 professional references.

One Saturday each month, HSP delivers food, Secret Pal gifts, personal care items, and household supplies to the senior citizens we support in the Senior Citizen Project. This is possible only with the wonderful drivers and volunteers who contribute part of their weekend to the cause of feeding the needy!
