THANK YOU TO OUR C.O.D. SERVICE LEARNERS

Kailey, one of our College of DuPage Service Learning volunteers, hard at work.

Over the past several months, Humanitarian Service Project has been blessed to have many students from College of DuPage volunteer their time with us through the “Service Learning” program, in which HSP is an official service learning site. The Service Learning Program combines community service with academic instruction. Through this program, students have a requirement to volunteer 20 hours of their time helping local non-profit organizations. In service learning courses, students are involved in organized service projects that address the needs of community organizations. We have had many students stay over their 20 hours and we are very thankful to them for taking extra time out of their busy schedules to help us.  This method of instruction is a “win-win” because the students are able to develop their academic skills while they learn a sense of civic responsibility and help us make a difference in our community as well.

These students have significantly contributed to our success the past several months and have helped us with many of our projects here including community outreach for our Christmas Offering, supervising volunteer groups, organizing donated food and toys in our warehouse, and helping with many other projects as needed.

We would like to take the time to thank these volunteers for helping us make a difference in the community.
