We here at HSP were
feeling full of energy and excitement as we conducted our third and final Feed
the Kids distribution day of the year. HSP’s Feed the Kids program, which takes
place during the months of June, July, and August, serves 100 families whose children
receive free or subsidized meal plans at school. Since these children do not
have the opportunity to receive these meals during the summer, HSP steps in to
provide their families with 175-200 pounds of non-perishable food, fresh fruit
and vegetables, bread, and a variety of meat.
We would not be
able to serve these families in such a way without the help of all the
wonderful volunteers who give their time and energy to this program. We
welcomed back volunteers from the Carol Stream “Panther” chapter of the Young
Men’s Service League and the National Charity League who have assisted at all
three of our Feed the Kids distribution days.. We were also excited to welcome
our friends from the Rotary Club of Bloomingdale-Roselle. It was their first
time volunteering for our Feed the Kids program, having volunteered for and
supported our other programs in the past. HSP would like to thank all of these
wonderful volunteers for their help in serving our community, and for making
HSP’s Feed the Kids program possible.
