Therese Antuna from the Wheaton Junior Women's Club arrived this morning with 14 boxes and bags of new toys that were donated by the Wheaton-Warrenville South High School's Key Club for our Children's Birthday Project (CBP). The toys will be sorted into age and gender appropriate groups and wrapped by volunteers. They will then be assembled into the 25-30 lb Birthday Boxes that the 700 needy children in the CBP receive the week of their birthday.
Each box contains:
• 6-15 new toys
• 6-7 new books
• 1 new game or puzzle
• stuffed animals, beanie babies
• mini-toys and filler gifts
• school supplies
• PARTY IN A BAG: cake mix, frosting, plates, cups, streamers, balloons, party favors
A sponsorship of only $54 per year buys the child all this, plus the child and all siblings under the age of 15 receive 5-6 Christmas gifts each, plus the entire family is eligible to be enrolled in the summer-time Feed the Kids Project.
Wheaton Junior Women's Club and the Wheaton-Warrenville South High School Key Club members were just at the Center on February 25th for a wrapping party for the CBP. Both groups have been such generous supporters of the HSP's mission and the gifts they brought today are so appreciated since we will be adding at least 50 more impoverished children to the Children's Birthday Project this year.
If you would like to sponsor a child or group of children in the Children's Birthday Project, please let us know!
