This week HSP bid farewell to a great intern, Stefani
Krautstrunk. Stefani has been part of the HSP team since late January. As a
Grant Writer intern, Stefani spent her time at HSP researching new avenues of
funding for HSP’s programs. We at HSP are very grateful Stefani chose to spend
her internship utilizing her talents for the sake of the senior citizens,
children, and families who rely on HSP programs.
HSP would like to thank 11 volunteers from UPS Supply
Chain Solutions for giving their time yesterday to sort frozen meat and
non-perishable food for the seniors in HSP’s Senior Citizen Project. Volunteers
from UPS regularly volunteer their time to help HSP serve the 133 deserving
seniors in our Senior Citizen Project. As HSP delivers over 6.5 tons of
groceries through this program every month, it is volunteers like this great
group from UPS who make the program possible.
There are just a few days to support our runners and
walkers in the DuPage Human Race. More than 15 friends of HSP have signed up to
run/walk and raise funds for the deserving senior citizens and children in our
programs on Saturday. Please consider supporting our runners and walker by
donating at this link: https://runsignup.com/Race/27820/Charity/2524. 100% of the donation will go to supporting
HSP’s programs!
Humanitarian Service Project
would like to thank the Shinnyo-En Chicago Temple for creating and donating
“party in a bag kits” and birthday cards for the children enrolled in our
Children’s Birthday Project. Creating these kits was part of the temple’s
“Family Service Event” on Sunday. The families at the event made 25 party in a
bag kits and 43 cards. We wish to thank them for helping us make birthdays
exciting and special for the underprivileged children enrolled in our
Children’s Birthday Project!
HSP would like to extend a big “thank you” to the
Athletes in Action club of Elmhurst College for volunteering their time last
Friday afternoon to box non-perishable food for the low-income families that
will be served by HSP’s Feed the Kids program this summer. The Athletes in Action
club has made volunteering at HSP an annual tradition, and they are always such
an enthusiastic group of volunteers. This summer, HSP will distribute over 26
tons of groceries to local families in need via the Feed the Kids program. We
thank the Athletes in Action club for helping us prepare for another successful
summer of the Feed the Kids program.
It was a great end of the week for HSP as we welcomed
our wonderful friends from Team AIM at Glenbard North High School. The group of
11 spent over two hours sorting paper products and non-perishable foods for the
low-income seniors we serve. This great group of students has been volunteering
at HSP regularly for the past few years and is always a fun, enthusiastic
group. Some of the members of this group will be graduating, so we wish to
thank them for all their support over the past few years!
HSP would like to thank our
friends from the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park for giving their time to help us
begin boxing up non-perishable groceries for our summer Feed the Kids program. Eleven
members of the club spent last Saturday morning helping HSP officially start
preparing boxes of food for the 100 deserving families who rely on our program
for their summertime nutrition. Every summer, HSP distributes approximately 26
tons of food to local families in need through the Feed the Kids program. We
thank the Kiwanis Club of Villa Park for generously giving their time to help
us kick off preparing for another great year of Feed the Kids.
