HSP Grant Writer visits the Wheaton Lions Club

By Andrea King, Intern

Krista Ravenscraft, HSP's very own Grant Writer, recently visited the Wheaton Lions Club to outline the services we provide to our clients. She is pictured above with Julie DeGrace, who so graciously sponsored our visit and the Lions Club President, Tony Ladd. The Club has been actively involved with our organization since 2002 and currently sponsor one of our senior citizens. Thanks for having us Lions, we certainly appreciate all of your support!

Meet Another Rock Star Volunteer

Come this September, Dale will celebrate six years as an HSP volunteer. According to Children's Birthday Project Coordinator Nikki Haton, Dale is an "all around wonderful rock-star volunteer."
Dale works upstairs in our center sorting and organizing toys, stuffed animals, activity kits, and other items for the 800 children in CBP. We're happy to have Dale!

Arbor Day Sees the Tree Planted

While the prep work was started earlier in the week when strong (and young) volunteers dug a huge hole, our beautiful new tree officially went in the ground on most appropriately, Arbor Day. Here Co-Founder and Treasurer Floyd Kettering joins with a team of volunteers to complete the job.

Clarendon Hills Library Hosts HSP Display

If you are in Clarendon Hills, check out our new display at the Clarendon Hills Libary. Circulation Manager Leanne Pavel was kind enough to help arrange for the Humanitarian Service Project to have this opportunity.

Interns Leave HSP

By: Megan Sturomski, intern

Well it is sad to say but my time here at HSP has come to an end, along with fellow intern Glenn Schneider. We will both be graduating shortly and our 320 hours of internship experience have been completed. I am sad to be leaving HSP, but I am grateful for the experience. The thing that I will miss the most about HSP is the people, and all of the different stories that I was able to hear and be apart of. I was truly touched by the seniors as well as the children and their families. I will never forget what I learned here and I am forever grateful for the opportunity and what I have learned here at HSP.

I Presented Karole with a Certificate from Lewis University!!!
A Special Thanks from Glenn:
"These few months have been a very rewarding experience for me. I've enjoyed working with Karole, Nikki, Sarah, Sheila and everyone else at HSP. Also the senior's and children's lives that I have impacted made this few months worth while, though I do not think that this will be the last time I step foot into HSP's door. Thank You!"
